Portland Metro Pipe Band – Band Member Profile
Name: Mark Mullaney
Piper or Drummer? Piper
How long have you been playing pipes or drums? 7 years.
Musical Influences on your piping/drumming career? Ever since day one my great teacher Mark Tomasetti has taught me everything I know! Also, as a solo piper attending camps with Bob Worall helped tremendously, and as a band piper I gained a lot of experience and direction by playing with the Maple Ridge Pipe Band for one year.
Provide some info about your piping/drumming background and other bands you’ve played with: Sir James McDonald– 4 years, Monmouth College Pipe Band– 2 and a half years, Maple Ridge– 1 year
High points of your band and/or solo career, including awards or trips: When Sir James won first place at Pleasanton and we got a trophy that was bigger than most of us in the band at the time, and then me and some band mates partied by staying up most of the night just sitting in the hotel hot tub. Getting accepted into the finals at the 2001 Worlds with Sir James in grade 4. The moment in time at Bellingham 06 when Angus Macpherson told me he had a kilt for me in his car. At my first bagpipe camp, in the morning when a piper was playing revelry and waking everyone up- the bagpiper happened to be Jeff Brewer, and when he made an extra special long stop outside of Mark Tomasetti's door, I heard the door bust open and then the sound of a super soaker spraying at full blast.
Misc. fact about you: I play bagpipes in a celtic rock band at college…um, I don't know…one time I almost blew the attack at the worlds.
